Build dams and secure Queensland’s water supply

Deliver the New Bradfield Scheme.

Water is the lifeblood of regional Queensland. To drought-proof Queensland and plan for the future, an LNP Government will partner with CSIRO to make the New Bradfield Scheme a key economic driver that helps build a stronger economy and drag Queensland out of recession.

The New Bradfield Scheme is a visionary project that will deliver water security, transform our regional economies, boost renewable hydroelectric power, reduce carbon emissions from new vegetation growth and limit nutrient runoff into the Great Barrier Reef.

The LNP’s Queensland Dam Company will provide an investment vehicle to partner with CSIRO and all other required state agencies to complete the New Bradfield Scheme Water Resource Assessment. Queensland needs water now more than ever. A future LNP Government will deliver the vision and infrastructure needed to deliver water security and drought-proof our state.

Deliver the new dams and water infrastructure we need.

Water security is vital for the future economic growth of Queensland. But Labor has done nothing to secure Queensland’s water supply in Central Queensland, North Queensland and Far North Queensland.

If elected, the LNP will invest a combined $30 million to undertake the environmental and planning work needed to raise the Burdekin Falls Dam and get Nullinga and Urannah dams shovel-ready. We will fix Paradise Dam and deliver Rookwood Weir and Emu Swamp Dam. These dams will deliver long-term water security to communities, industry and primary producers.

Building new dams will supercharge agricultural production and secure the economic future for Queensland farmers.
